This is Montana’s Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness and we are Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters – ADVENTURES ABOVE THE REST

Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters is headquartered in Big Timber, Montana. We operate three permitted wilderness camps: Hellroaring, Independence, and Bassett Creek. In addition, we offer private land hunts on several Montana ranches.

Hellroaring Camp is located in a beautiful meadow 8 miles north of Yellowstone National Park. It is accessed by a 12-mile horseback ride south from Independence Camp. We run the early rifle season elk and deer hunts as well as mountain goat, black bear and moose hunts from Hellroaring. Summer fishing and pack trips are also operated from this camp.

Independence Camp is accessed by 4X4 vehicles and hunted with horses. It is located at the head of the Boulder River, 50 miles south of Big Timber. Bow hunting and both early and general rifle season elk and deer hunts are conducted from this camp. We hunt bighorn sheep, mountain goat and black bear from mid-September through the end of November in this area. Both camps have comfortable accommodations consisting of roomy, carpeted wall tents with wood stoves, cots with foam pads, a hot shower (Hellroaring only), a roaring campfire and first class meals prepared by our cook.

Bassett Creek is one of our General Season camps, located north of the Yellowstone National Park boundary near Gardiner. During these hunts we base out of a hunting lodge above the park which allows us the flexibility to choose between the lodge and Bassett Creek depending upon the weather and elk movement.

In addition to our wilderness hunts Absaroka Beartooth Outfitters offers exclusive private land hunts. Any hunter who seeks big game, turkey, duck or geese will find an abundance of all from the pristine landscape of the Lazy E-L Ranch to the renowned waters of the Yellowstone, all within an easy commute of Big Timber.
